Information We Collect

When you contact us or sign up for a free consultation through the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, email, and any information you choose to share in the message box. We refer to this information as “Contact Information”.

When you purchase Services from Host Happy, you may choose to send Host Happy personal documents or share other information over email, phone, or Zoom. When you decide to do so, we collect certain information from you including but not limited to, your financial information, property address, budget, current rental returns, and desired rental returns. We refer to this information as "Services Information”.

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as "Device Information”.

We collect Device Information using the following technologies:

• “Log files” track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.
• “Web beacons,” “tags,” and “pixels” are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site.

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Policy, we are referring collectively to Contact Information, Services Information and Device Information.

How we Use Information

We use the Services Information we collect to deliver and improve the services you purchase from Host Happy. This may include but is not limited to, printing physical copies of Services Information for review by Host Happy employees; editing and creating revised versions of Services Information for your use; and using Services Information to create documents for your use.

We use the Contact Information that we collect to communicate with you; and when in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services.

We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

Without restriction, we may use any information you submit through the Site for any purpose whatsoever so long as it is anonymous and any and all personal identifying information has been removed.

How We May Disclose Information

We share your Personal Information with third parties to help us use your Personal Information, as described above.

We may disclose your Personal Information to a potential buyer or seller in the event that we sell or buy any business or assets. We may disclose your Personal Information if Host Happy or its assets are acquired by a third party, in which case your Personal Information may be considered one of the assets transferred to the buyer.

We may disclose your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

Without restriction, we may disclose any information for marketing, advertising, or research purposes so long as it is anonymous and any and all personal identifying information has been removed.

Information Security and Breaches

We take reasonable steps to help protect the Personal Information we collect from loss, unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. We store your Personal Information on industry-standard servers equipped with security software.

No security system can guarantee the protection of information, and there is a risk of unauthorized access or disclosure of your Personal Information. We make no guarantees or representations regarding the security of the servers. We do not guarantee the protection of your Personal Information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. In the event your Personal Information is disclosed as the result of a security breach of our servers or Site, we will notify you within a reasonable timeframe once we become aware of the breach.

Our servers and other Site hosting services may be located outside of Canada, and may be subject to foreign security and privacy laws.

In the event Services Information is printed in order to facilitate the review of documents by Host Happy employees, we will shred any and all related physical materials after use.

Retention and Deletion of Information

We may retain your Personal Information unless you ask us to delete this information. If you have not accessed our Site for five years, we may delete some or all of your Personal Information. We may review our servers at reasonable intervals and delete Personal Information. We will retain any and all information as required by applicable laws.

We will delete your Personal Information from our servers if you send us a request by email to hello@hosthappy.ca. We will delete your Personal Information within a reasonable timeframe once we receive your request.

Do Not Track

Please note that we do not alter our Site’s data collection and use practices when we see a Do Not Track signal from your browser.

If You Are Under 18 Years Old

If you are under the age of 18 you may only use the Site or submit information to Host Happy under the direct supervision and with the express consent of your parent or legal guardian. You must ensure that any Personal Information is provided to Host Happy with the consent of your parent or legal guardian.

European Customers – Your Rights

If you are a European resident, you have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to ask that your personal information be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you would like to exercise this right, please contact us through the contact information below.

Additionally, if you are a European resident we note that we are processing your information in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you (for example if you make an order through the Site), or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above.  Additionally, please note that your information will be transferred outside of Europe, including to Canada and the United States.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We may change the Policy at our sole discretion, at any time. The amended Policy will be effective when it is posted to the Site. We may make an effort to communicate substantial changes to the Policy via email or by a notice on the Site. By continuing to use the Site or submitting any information to Host Happy, you agree to the amended Policy.
