Coastal Retreat Nestled in the Trees
This space came to us mostly furnished, but it needed that final push to make it truly stand out from the crowd. Our designers transformed this space with a very minimal budget and took it from great to one-of-a-kind, with local art, feature paint walls, hanging surfboards, and little touches to add to the guest experience, like a popcorn and coffee station.

Challenge
The owners wanted to cater to children, and thought the best way to do so was with a bunk bed. However, the problem with a bunk bed is that it screams ‘children’s room’ - so while you may then attract guests with children, you can turn away groups of adult guests, thus reducing your occupancy, and with it your revenue.
Our Solution
In order to maximize occupancy and revenue, we wanted to cater to both families and groups of adults. Our team disassembled the bunk beds, created a feature wall with panelling and paint, and transformed this bedroom from boring bunk bed room to welcoming surf shack room for adults and kids alike.
In addition to the children’s bedroom, this space lacked what many spaces lack - character, and a feeling of love. Despite having all the basics - beds, linens, lights, the space still seemed unfinished, like something was missing. We were given a small budget to transform the space before launch, so we focused on injecting personality into the lodge.
We added pops of colour with accent walls - drawing inspiration from the lodge’s close proximity to the beach - added surfboards, colourful (and practical) hot tub towels, local brewery posters to the bar, live plants, colourful shower curtains and added fun guest features like a board game area, a popcorn station, and coffee station.
All these small details add up to a big impact.
